One Health, Why we need it

The Sri Lankan Society for Microbiology is delighted to share the successful completion of the “One Health: Why We Need It” Forum, held on 15th July 2026 at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine & Animal Science, University of Peradeniya. The forum was organized collaboratively by the SSM Kandy Chapter and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine & Animal Science, University of Peradeniya.

The forum brought together academics, professionals, and students from the medical, veterinary, and science disciplines for an inspiring keynote address by Prof. Malik Peiris, followed by an engaging discussion.

The event served as a valuable platform to exchange knowledge, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and strengthen the integration of the One Health approach within universities and higher education.

We sincerely thank the SSM Kandy Chapter and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine & Animal Science, University of Peradeniya for organizing this successful collaborative initiative. We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to all participants for their enthusiastic engagement and valuable contributions towards advancing One Health.
