Sri Lankan Society for Microbiology (SSM) Annual General Meeting 2026

The Sri Lankan Society for Microbiology successfully concluded its Annual General Meeting on 20 June 2026 at the Peradeniya Rest House, with the participation of 27 members representing the Colombo, Kandy, and Jaffna Chapters.
 
The meeting commenced with a welcome and introductions, followed by a heartfelt tribute to the late Dr. (Mrs.) Thayalini Thileepan, former President of the SSM Jaffna Chapter, in recognition of her invaluable contributions to the Society.
 
The AGM included the presentation of the 2025–2026 SSM Annual Report, chapter reports from Colombo, Kandy, and Jaffna, the financial report, and an update on the Sri Lanka Journal of Infectious Diseases (SLJID). Members also discussed new appointments, future plans for the Society, and engaged in a productive question-and-answer session.
 
We extend our sincere appreciation to all members who participated and contributed to the success of the meeting. Together, we remain committed to advancing microbiology, fostering collaboration, and strengthening the Society’s contribution to healthcare, research, and education in Sri Lanka.
